An engaging slide deck and supporting print materials—including a presentation, educational pamphlet, and 3D graphics—designed to simplify and visually communicate complex concepts related to the cobalt promotion of bulk catalysts for Dr. Gilles Berhault, Research Fellow at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique). The CNRS is a premier, government-funded research organization in France and the largest fundamental science agency in Europe.
Role:
Led Graphic Design and Art Direction while collaborating with Dr. Berhault to effectively translate his ideas and lecture notes into commanding visuals. Worked closely with him to break down complex information and apply thoughtful aesthetics that enhanced the overall lecture experience, aiming to keep the audience engaged throughout his presentation.
Solution/ Process:
Redesigned visual tools to strengthen how chemical structures, reactions, and properties are communicated, identified, and analyzed, using a distinctly utilitarian design approach. Constructivist‑style illustrations contrast with low‑magnification TEM images, creating a striking visual interplay that makes the material more engaging and easier to interpret. Clean sans‑serif typography supports clarity throughout the slide deck, aligning with the overall aesthetic. In addition to the presentation, a complementary booklet version of the design was also produced to further support the lecture.
Results:
Dr. Berhault’s lecture stood out during the conference, where colleagues noted the engaging design of his slides compared to standard PowerPoint presentations.
