Rosa Papalotl Creations
Contract Work - El Paso, Texas
Delivered:
A full branding and marketing system: logo suite, brand standards, packaging, brand messaging, and digital/social content.
Role:
Led Graphic Design and Art Direction while communicating with the client to develop a full branding and marketing system for a small business that creates handmade, high-quality artisan goods. Collaborated with the client to brainstorm brand names, and expand on the client’s idea to utilize the Nahuatl word for butterfly—Papalotl. Translated the clients needs and ideas to develop brand visuals and narrative that aim for a whimsical audience with a flare for the esoteric.
Solution/ Process:
A twist on Aztec heritage remains at the center of Rosa Papalotl; a moth was selected as the face of the brand—a symbol for transformation, intuition, and a deep connection to the spiritual realm. Complementing the moth design, the assets of the branding system are adorned with patterns and icons inspired by Tarot Cards and Art Nouveau. To balance the quirky aesthetic, the brand system is tamed to line art and minimalist assets ensuring focus remains on the product. Consultation was offered to the client to discuss what tools she could use to develop more social media content, bags and tissue paper ideas for sales, and potential markets she could reach through tabling events and festivals.
Results:
The client was enthusiastic to receive all the tools needed to launch her small business, appreciating the feedback on how to develop social media content and what is needed to sell at tabling events and festivals.

"Jacobo did a beautiful job bringing my idea for Rosa Papalotl Creations to life. I started with the vision of creating a small business focused on handcrafted soaps and candles, and his artistic talent helped give that idea its own unique identity. I’m very happy with how he transformed the concept into something creative, meaningful, and visually beautiful."
